Cheapest Time to Book Lahore, Karachi & Islamabad to Jeddah Flights (2026–27 Guide)

Every year, hundreds of thousands of Pakistanis fly to Jeddah. Some are going for Umrah, some are visiting family working in Saudi Arabia, and many are workers heading back after a holiday at home. The demand is constant, but prices are not. The same seat from Lahore to Jeddah can cost almost double depending on when you book and which month you travel.

This guide explains when it is cheapest to book Lahore to Jeddah, Karachi to Jeddah and Islamabad to Jeddah flights. It covers which months to avoid, how far ahead to book, and a few practical tricks that regularly save travellers thousands of rupees.

Quick answer: when is it cheapest?

  • Book 6 to 8 weeks before departure. Fare data from major flight search engines shows this window gives the lowest prices on Pakistan–Jeddah routes most consistently.
  • Travel in the quieter months. That is usually late spring (April–May, before the Hajj period) and the months right after the Umrah season restarts, away from school holidays.
  • Avoid Ramadan, Eid, December holidays and the summer break. These are the most expensive times to fly to Jeddah from Pakistan.
  • Fly midweek. Tuesday and Wednesday departures are often cheaper than Thursday to Sunday.

The details matter, so here is each point in turn.

Why Jeddah fares change so much

Jeddah's King Abdulaziz International Airport (JED) is the main gateway for pilgrims visiting Makkah. Demand from Pakistan follows the Islamic calendar as much as the normal travel calendar. Three things drive prices:

  1. Religious seasons. Ramadan, especially the last ten days, is the peak of the Umrah year. Seats sell out early and fares rise sharply.
  2. Pakistani holidays. Summer vacations (June–August), winter holidays in late December and both Eids push families to travel at the same time.
  3. Worker traffic. Many Pakistanis work in Saudi Arabia. Return flights to Jeddah fill up right after Eid and at the end of school holidays, when everyone heads back at once.

When two or more of these overlap, prices hit their highest. If you can travel when none of them apply, you will find the cheapest Jeddah tickets of the year.

The cheapest months to fly to Jeddah from Pakistan

Different fare trackers name slightly different "cheapest months", because their data comes from different years and directions. The overall pattern is clear, though:

Usually cheaper

  • April to early May. This is after Ramadan and Eid ul Fitr travel, and before the Hajj period. RatePunk's historical data for Karachi to Jeddah names May as the cheapest month, with a median fare well below the peak months.
  • The first weeks after Umrah reopens following Hajj. Umrah visas pause around Hajj and restart afterwards. Demand builds again gradually, so early-season fares can be good value.
  • Late October to mid-November. Schools are open in Pakistan, there is no major religious event, and the weather in Saudi Arabia starts to cool. It is a comfortable and affordable time for Umrah.

Usually most expensive

  • Ramadan, especially the last ten days. In 2027, Ramadan is expected to start around early February.
  • Around Eid ul Fitr and Eid ul Adha, when workers and families travel in both directions.
  • Summer holidays (June–August). Skyscanner lists August as one of the busiest months on the route.
  • Late December, when winter holidays and year-end leave fill flights.
  • September. RatePunk's Karachi–Jeddah data shows it as the most expensive month, driven by the end of summer and the return of workers.

Tip: Islamic dates move about 10–11 days earlier every year. Always check where Ramadan and Hajj fall in your travel year rather than relying on last year's prices.

How far in advance should you book?

This is the most important factor you control. Most sources agree that the best price comes from booking ahead, but not too early:

  • Normal months: book around 6–8 weeks ahead. Trip.com's route analysis suggests about 40 days. Cheapflights recommends at least 60 days for Lahore–Jeddah.
  • Ramadan, Eid and school holidays: book 3–4 months ahead, or as soon as your dates are fixed. Low fare classes sell out first, and last-minute seats are rarely cheap in peak season.
  • Last-minute travel (under 2 weeks): compare all airlines, including one-stop routes through Dubai, Doha or Bahrain. A connecting flight is often much cheaper than the last direct seats.

Booking very early (six months or more) does not usually help on these routes. Airlines open schedules with standard fares and release promotions closer to the date.

Route by route: what to expect

Lahore to Jeddah (LHE–JED)

Lahore is one of the busiest Pakistani airports for Saudi traffic. Direct options usually include PIA, Saudia, Airblue and AirSial. Budget carriers such as flynas and one-stop options via the Gulf are also available. Lots of competition means good fares if you book in the 6–8 week window. Lahore is also well connected to Lahore to Riyadh flights, which suits travellers working in central Saudi Arabia.

Karachi to Jeddah (KHI–JED)

Karachi has the most frequent service to Jeddah. Direct flights take roughly 4 to 4.5 hours. More airlines usually means more fare classes, so Karachi often has some of the lowest base fares to Jeddah from Pakistan. Islamabad to Jeddah (ISB–JED)

Islamabad serves the north of the country, including Rawalpindi, KPK and Azad Kashmir. PIA and Saudia fly direct, along with some Pakistani private airlines. Connecting options run on Qatar Airways, Emirates, flydubai, Turkish Airlines and others. Pilgrims from Islamabad who want to start their trip in the Prophet's city can also look at Islamabad to Madinah flights. Flying into Madinah and out of Jeddah is a popular Umrah plan.

7 practical tips to get the cheapest Jeddah ticket

  1. Check a range of dates. Moving your departure by just 2–3 days often changes the fare noticeably, especially near weekends and holidays.
  2. Prefer Tuesday or Wednesday departures. Midweek flights are usually less busy than Thursday and Friday departures.
  3. Compare direct and one-stop flights. A short connection in Dubai, Doha, Bahrain or Muscat can save money outside peak season. Check the total travel time and baggage rules on each leg.
  4. Compare the total price, not just the base fare. Baggage allowances differ a lot between airlines. Pilgrims often bring back Zamzam water and gifts, so a fare with a good allowance can work out cheaper overall.
  5. Consider open-jaw tickets. Flying into Jeddah and out of Madinah (or the other way round) can save time and avoid the road trip between the two cities.
  6. Travel as a group. Families and Umrah groups can often get better rates through group tickets, which are blocks of seats bought at a fixed fare.
  7. Book once your visa plan is clear. Make sure your visa type (Umrah, visit or work) and dates are confirmed before booking a non-refundable fare. Changing a cheap ticket later can cost more than you saved.

Umrah travellers: extra things to plan

  • Ihram timing: flights from Pakistan cross the Miqat before landing in Jeddah. Most pilgrims put on Ihram before boarding or during the flight when the crew announces it. Plan your clothing and wudu with that in mind.
  • Umrah visa and Nusuk: Umrah bookings and permits are managed through Saudi Arabia's official Nusuk platform. Check the latest rules before you travel.
  • Hajj blackout: Umrah is normally not allowed for ordinary visitors for several weeks around Hajj. Don't book Umrah flights for that period expecting to perform Umrah.
  • Hotel prices follow flight prices: if your flight is expensive, hotels near the Haram usually are too. A cheaper month saves on both.

Don't forget the return flight

Many travellers look only at the outbound fare. Jeddah to Pakistan prices follow their own pattern. They rise sharply right after Ramadan, after Hajj and at the end of Saudi school holidays, when pilgrims and families all head home together. If your trip ends in one of these periods, book the return at the same time as the outbound, or choose a round trip, to lock in the price.

Thinking about other destinations?

The same booking rules apply to other popular Gulf routes from Pakistan. Book 6–8 weeks ahead, avoid holiday peaks and fly midweek. Compare recent fares on:
